‘Friends of the Children of Emaús’ is a registered charity founded in 2004 years ago by a group of friends in Calpe and currently headed by Carole Saunders. It is the only registered association who fund raise solely for the children cared for by the good folks of EMAUS Altea.

The first EMAÚS Association in Spain was set up in at Altea in 1979 by Francisco Nadal. Francisco had been inspired by the work of Abbé Piérre in France. Abbé Piérre started the EMMAUS Association after the Second World War to care for the homeless. It is now an international movement established in thirty-six countries world-wide.
