WEBSITE we started a new website last summer some committee members were assisting, very sadly we lost them from the committee. Then a new committee started to get to grips with things in January and found a lot of new rules and regulations have come in and others are being more strictly enforced. This has caused a huge amount of work behind the scenes, some still ongoing and is the reason we cannot have the Choir perform in the Casa de Cultura as usual this year. We are aware that the website is not perfect as we would like it. We are working on it. All of the committee are volunteers and we are doing our best, please bear with us.
FACEBOOK however is very easy for us to post information on immediately; you can also contact us and get a quick response. I understand that even if you are not a member of Facebook you can still view our pages. They are U3A Calpe (be sure it is the official page, photo of 2 flamingos) and U3A Travel Calpe. If you are on Facebook, please give us a ‘like’ and ‘follow’.
GROUPS the groups information on the website is almost 100% correct. Only correction is that we no longer have a Mountain Walking Group, it is hoped to start an Easy Walking group in the autumn. We have some very good groups, one even has 98 members. Why not try something? Out relatively new padel group is great fun and does have space for new members.
MEMBERSHIP at the last General Meeting 73 people renewed their membership and 20 new people joined. Our membership team did extremely well. They need to finish before we start the meeting so please do come early. Everyone needs to complete a membership renewal form and tick the boxes. We obtained these in 2018. If you renewed your membership in the last 6 months please will you complete the form in retrospect? If you do any group activities your group leader should have a supply forms.
TRAVEL lots of day trips, approx one per month. These are very popular and fill up quickly so be sure to put your name down early. Also a Christmas trip away. Check out the website, all travel information is 100% up to date and correct. Also U3A Travel Calpe where you can put your name down or ask questions and get a quick reply.
PUBLICITY U3A Calpe is in the newspapers very frequently now and mentioned on local radio. At our General Meetings all newspaper cuttings from publicity for our U3A are on display on a table. Have a look, it is impressive.
SOCIAL No one has taken on the role of Social Secretary so no social events are planned. If anyone would like to organise just one event it would be great. If you think you can then please speak to or email one of the committee with your idea.
